Meet the team

Doug Hartmann

CEO and Founder

One of Australia’s most knowledgeable bioenergy professionals, Doug brings anaerobic digestion experience together with 30 years in power generation, mechanical, chemical, and manufacturing. Doug’s passion and deep knowledge in bioenergy and sustainability drives the vision for the Hart Bioenergy team.

Martin Figura

CFO

Martin (Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Engineering (with Honours) specialises in cost engineering, CAD design, detailed engineering, feedstock analysis, financial controls analysis, contractor management, manufacturing, and is a qualified QMS auditor.

Patrick Quin

General Manager

Patrick (BEng (Hons), MBA) has over 25 years of project and general management experience, leading teams in high technology industries and supporting strong, sustainable growth, with a keen understanding in stakeholder, project, and change management.

Dr Jayant Keskar

AD Technology Lead

Dr Jayant Keskar (B.Sc. M.Sc. PhD (Microbiology)) has more than 33 international years in water/wastewater treatment, with an emphasis on biogas generation. He has expertise in the treatment of various agro-industrial effluents such as food processing, dairy, meat, starch, ethanol, sugar, pulp/ paper, petrochemical wastewater and municipal sewage. 

Dr Justin Morrisy

BioTech Advisor

Justin (PhD Environmental Engineering) focuses on environmental ecosystem structures, specilising in green/ renewable technology, net zero carbon technology, creating more circular economies on both small and large scales (waste upcycling and recycling), algae, and creating climate change resilience in our communities.

Chrissi Jarl

Project Manager

Chrissi (MSc. Mechanical Engineer, Spec: Product Development) is a qualified process engineer and professional project manager. Chrissi has over 10 years industry experience working across complex engineered systems for waste, including recycling and resource recovery, ongoing operations and maintenance systems, documentation and processes.

Andrew Cohen

Business Development Manager

Andrew has over 20 years experience providing innovative and cost-effective renewable energy solutions for businesses across Australia. Andrew identifies practical solutions that suit client operation, budget and timeline.

Phil Pyke

Project Development Manager

Phil Pyke OAM brings extensive expertise in agriculture, defence, and disaster response, driving strategic partnerships that advance bioenergy solutions across Tasmania. Based in Hobart, he connects industry, government, and communities to deliver practical, sustainable energy outcomes through innovative waste-to-energy systems.

Consultant

Mark has been actively involved in promoting practical, on-the-ground approaches to renewable energy in Tasmania for many years, particularly in supporting regional industries and communities to better understand and adopt bioenergy opportunities. His experience reflects a clear focus on solutions that work in real-world settings for dairy, agriculture and food processing and manufacturing.
